The old house

The old house

The Old Jöchl-House in Madseit is one of the oldest wooden houses in North Tyrol. A dendrochronological examination by the University of Innsbruck proved it to be around 600 years old. So the Old House existed even before Kolumbus first landed in America. It was home to many, many generations of mountain farmers. Over the centuries, it has been continuously inhabited and has so kept its unique atmosphere until this day. In the cosy Swiss pine nest right under the shingle roof there is an exhibition.

Farmstead group Gemais

Farmstead group "Gemais"

The group of farmsteads in the hamlet of Gemais is distinguished by its stylistic unity which can be taxed back to the 18th century. The group as such is already an impressive collection of folkloric history. The economic and cultural historic value also deserves mention, since the group began with a dairy farmstead which had been founded in the 13th century. The division of the original farm produced the four separate farm sectors which still exist today. This farmstead group is a prime example of constructional and economic developments of the medieval dairy farming groups.
