Safe on a toboggan – safety tips

  • The following is very important for a superb tobogganing experience:
    -    Warm and weatherproof clothes
    -    Sturdy shoes with non-slip soles
    -    Ski goggles and gloves
    -    Torch or headlight for evening tobogganing
    -    A helmet for optimum safety, particularly for children
  • A toboggan with steering belt and rail edges bent inwards increases safety – a plastic bobsled is not suited for natural toboggan runs. You can borrow a toboggan for ideal winter enjoyment at the Tuxertal toboggan runs.
  • Keep the seat free of snow, and dry.
  • Always stay on the edge of the run during your ascent so as not to interfere with tobogganers racing into the valley. Keep dogs on a short leash and stop at blind spots.
  • Make sure that the run is open for tobogganing when travelling on a toboggan run with automotive traffic. If specified, please abide by the tobogganing hours – you’re responsible for your own safety!
  • "Don’t drink and drive" also applies for tobogganing – please note that alcohol affects your capacity for reaction.
  • Use the ascent to inspect the run and make a mental note of striking passages and sharp turns
