Even mountaineers like an unhurried hike every now and then. That’s no problem here in Tux-Finkenberg as there aren’t just easy hikes in the valley, but also summit paths accessible to everyone: everyone can get higher with the summer mountain railways!
The summer mountain railways in Tux-Finkenberg – 3 of 11 in Zillertal – ensure unhurried hikes for all ages. Find information on the prices and special offers on the corresponding websites or directly at the Tux-Center tourist office!
You can also take the hiking taxis to get to select mountain pastures and huts faster from June to late September. Taxi companies take you to the snack station Stoankasern, to Hobalm or Vallruckalm, and to Lämmerbichlalm. They are all ideal starting points for delightful hikes!

Beyond the 350 km of marked hiking trails, there are also almost unlimited options for Nordic walkers to explore Tuxertal. 150 km of marked Nordic walking routes make walkers’ hearts beat faster and allow you to enjoy the Tux mountains during an unhurried tour with friends. There are also more challenging routes available for pros while beginners can take part in guided walking tours.
Hiking for all ages never becomes boring on these themed trails. The TUX-Welten are completely new. Discover Tuxertal and its diversity with the entire family. Hike through Wasserwelt (Water World) and let water splash in your face on hot days at the Hintertux waterfall. You can also cool off in Tier-, Pflanzen-, and Naturwelt or one of the other worlds at Tuxbach. Informative display boards alternate with attractions such as the flea circus of the waterfall swing. All paths are easily accessible from Tux-Finkenberg!
Tip: One particular highlight is Almwelt (Alpine World) – hike on this path in summer across meadows filled with fragrant alpine herbs and flowers, and enjoy perfect culinary fare in one of the huts.
Every Monday, Wednesday & Friday from July to September, an experienced glacier guide takes you on an exciting and adventurous discovery tour on Hintertux glacier. Did you know that the glacier ice you’re hiking on is several millennia old?
Highlight of the hike: the panoramic terrace on Hintertux glacier. Learn more about the surrounding mountains and enjoy the breath-taking view at a spectacular altitude of 3,250 m.
Nature park rangers will also accompany you on your informative tour through Tuxertal. The Tux-Finkenberg tourist association and nature park Zillertal Alps will inform you about the guided hiking tours, such as retracing the steps of hunters and gatherers.
