Located in the valley end of Tux, the glacier is easily accessible from all Zillertal localities. This witness to the Ice Age is 120 m thick at its deepest point and 4 km long.
60 km of slopes of every level of difficulty and 21 lifts are waiting for you on the glacier from December to April. Beyond slopes with guaranteed snow, there’s a multifaceted gastronomic line-up.
The Ski- & Glacier World Zillertal 3000 is recognised internationally as an outstanding ski resort: From the beginning of December to mid April the ski areas on the Hintertux Glacier, Eggalm, Rastkogel, Finkenberg, Penken/Mayrhofen and Ahorn merge to form the snow sure Ski- & Glacier World Zillertal 3000. Avid skiers and boarders can then enjoy 199 km of perfectly groomed pistes suitable for all levels of ability at altitudes ranging from 630 m to a breathtaking 3,250 m above sea level as well as fabulous natural snow slopes, inviting deep snow and challenging moguls. 66 state of the art lift systems transport winter sport lovers safely and comfortably to the very top, where a skiable area covering 800 hectares is waiting. The award winning cuisine is then the icing on the cake after a perfect day of skiing!
When it comes to skiing in Tyrol, there is no beating Zillertal: Hintertux glacier is Austria’s only year-round ski region! Even in summer, the glacier impresses visitors with 20 km of perfectly groomed slopes that are great for summer, sun and snow skiing!
The webcams give you the latest information on sunny days. They offer you live insights into the snow and weather conditions on the glacier in summer and winter.
Did you know that the glacier is moving? The ski lifts need to be relocated several times a year to keep the poles standing straight.

The magical ice palace on Hintertux glacier offers an unforgettable experience. Glacier enthusiasts will be enchanted by this icy world beneath the slope during a guided round tour and can marvel at frozen waterfalls, glistening ice stalactites and the glacier lake. Wear ski boots to be perfectly equipped for this easy tour. Don’t forget a thick jacket and sturdy shoes for this icy experience – even in warm weather.
This ice wonder world is open year-round and accessible in any weather. Visiting the Nature's Ice Palace can be best combined with a day of skiing on Hintertux glacier or a view from the panoramic terrace at 3,250 m above sea level.

The cave at the Spannagelhaus (short Spannagelhöhle), is the largest marble (rock) cave in the Central Alps, is open all year and explorable as part of a guided tour. Learn more about the history, age, hydrology streams, cave climate and animal life of this particular cave from the Cave Guides, and marvel at the marble stratification, stalactites, crystals, erosion cauldrons and bone finds. Important: Please pay attention to the correct clothing (solid clothes and shoes)

New at the Glacier World for little treasure hunters: the glacier flea safari at Sommerbergalm. Young adventurers go on a journey of exploration with glacier flea Luis and prove to be good detectives, solve tricky questions and learn a lot of new things about water, snow and the natural wonder that is the glacier.
The safari treasure map is available at all pay desks of Hintertux valley stations. Children up to age 10 travel for free to the Sommerbergalm!
