As safe as the mountains, there is also snow in Tux-Finkenberg! Austria's only year-round ski area, the Hintertux Glacier, is the figurehead of the best snow conditions and snow-sure slopes. Experience 60 kilometers of perfectly groomed powder snow slopes of all difficulty levels, 21 state-of-the-art cable cars and excellent gastronomy. Deep snow fans get their money's worth in the Lärmstange area.
The breathtaking view from the panorama terrace at 3,250 m of the surrounding three-thousand-meter peaks and the striking summit of the Olperer make the Hintertux Glacier a world-renowned glacier ski area. At the Funslope and Kidsslope Hintertux on the Sommerberg, fun is paramount. Unique courses with specially developed elements are suitable for beginners through to professionals.
Autumn beckons with lots of fresh snow on wonderfully wide and sunny slopes. Europe's first snow park opening of the season, the Hotzone.tv park opening, takes place annually at the beginning of October on the Hintertux Glacier.
Hintertux Glacier year-round ski region
When it comes to skiing in Tyrol, there is no beating Zillertal: Hintertux Glacier is Austria’s only year-round ski region! Even in summer, the glacier impresses visitors with 20 km of perfectly groomed slopes that are great for summer, sun and snow skiing! The webcams give you the latest information on sunny days. They offer you live insights into thesnow and weather conditions on the glacier in summer and winter. Did you know that the glacier is moving? The ski lifts need to be relocated several times a year to keep the poles standing straight.
Powder dream “Ski and Glacier World Zillertal 3000“
TheSki- & Glacier World Zillertal 3000 is recognised internationally as an outstanding ski resort: From the beginning of December to mid April the ski areas on the Hintertux Glacier, Eggalm, Rastkogel, Finkenberg, Penken/Mayrhofen and Ahorn merge to form the snow sure Ski- & Glacier World Zillertal 3000. Avid skiers and boarders can then enjoy 202 km of perfectly groomed pistes suitable for all levels of ability at altitudes ranging from 630 m to a breathtaking 3,250 m above sea level as well as fabulous natural snow slopes, inviting deep snow and challenging moguls. 66 state of the art lift systems transport winter sport lovers safely and comfortably to the very top, where a skiable area covering 800 hectares is waiting. The award winning cuisine is then the icing on the cake after a perfect day of skiing!

Built in 1969, the house shares quite a few years of its history with the glacier. Tuxer Fernerhaus was elaborately renovated 50 years later, in 2013, now offering a mix of tradition and modernity. Enjoy invigorating mulled wine at the open fireplace in the comfy parlour. The panorama bar offers views of Tux’s mountains. Benefit from many extras, including a lounge for a rest stop, free WLAN, a grand view through panoramic windows, barrier-free access, escalators, etc.

Nature's Ice Palace
The magical Nature`s Ice Palace on Hintertux Glacier offers an unforgettable experience. Glacier enthusiasts will be enchanted by this icy world beneath the slope during a guided round tour and can marvel at frozen waterfalls, glistening ice stalactites and the glacier lake. Wear ski boots to be perfectly equipped for this easy tour. Don’t forget a thick jacket and sturdy shoes for this icy experience – even in warm weather.
This ice wonder world is open year-round and accessible in any weather. Visiting the Nature's Ice Palace can be best combined with a day of skiing on Hintertux glacier or a view from the panoramic terrace at 3,250 m above sea level.
The cave at the Spannagelhaus (short Spannagelhöhle), is the largest marble (rock) cave in the Central Alps, is open all year and explorable as part of a guided tour. Learn more about the history, age, hydrology streams, cave climate and animal life of this particular cave from the Cave Guides, and marvel at the marble stratification, stalactites, crystals, erosion cauldrons and bone finds. Important: Please pay attention to the correct clothing (solid clothes and shoes).
Experience the snow and ice in summer, hike on it and discover many interesting facts about the eternal ice at the same time on this guided tour! You will be introduced to the diverse facets of Hintertux Glacier in entertaining style, as 600 hp snowcats wait for you at the base of mighty Mount Olperer for a tour on the glacier - a stop or two are including to take the perfect souvenir photo!

Young adventurers go on a journey of exploration with glacier bug Luis and prove to be good detectives, solve tricky questions and learn a lot of new things about water, snow and the natural wonder that is the glacier. Children up to age 10 travel for free to the Sommerbergalm!
The glacier bug park on 3.250 m on Hintertux Glacier lets each year - starting from July - strike the hearts of the smallest glacier visitors more highly. What about a snowball ballte in the middle at summer or a runway down-rush with the Bob?

Glacier hike "Fascination Snow & Ice"
Glaciers are and will remain a very special kind of natural attraction. No matter what time of year you see, visit or commit a glacier, you will be impressed again and again. Its tremendously powerful appearance between bizarre ice fields, crevasses, rock masses and snow peaks creates a great respect for the wonder of nature every time anew. On the way with an experienced nature park guide, you get special insights into the fascination of the “Hintertux Glacier” as part of the tour over snow and ice. You will learn a lot of interesting facts about glaciology, the formation, structure, effect and distribution of ice on earth. This wonder of nature delights the whole family. Make sure you have mountain boots, sun protection, jacket and hat for this tour!
The glacier hike is offered and carried out by the Zillertal Alps High Mountain Nature Park.
