|Dates||27.12.2019 - 17.04.2020|
Location: Mehlerhaus in Madseit
The 17th century Mehlerhaus was renovated in 1999 by the municipality of Tux and is now open to the public. The exhibition "Frauen in Tux und Frauen im Himalaya" from Erika Hubatschek is open every Friday from 1.00 p.m. - 6.00 p.m.
The Mehlerhaus, which was inhabited until 1992, the beautiful old wooden parlours and the kitchen can now be visited as the centre of the formerly rural living culture.
Every FRIDAY a new, interesting exhibition "Women in Tux and the Himalayas" by Erika & Irmtraud Hubatschek can be visited in the Mehlerhaus from 1.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.
This double exhibition is the result of a common passion of mother and daughter: To explore the mountain farming environment and to capture it in pictures. Erika’s goal was to expose life in the Alps, for Irmtraud in the various countries of the Himalayas. The pictures of Erika Hubatschek were taken between 1942 and 1959 in Tux, and Irmtraud’s pictures between 1984 and 2016 in the Indian Himalayas, Nepal and Tibet.
This exhibition, mostly newly created for the Mehlerhaus, aims to sharpen the view of the women's mountain farming world here and at 3,000 to 5,000 m above sea level in the Himalayas by crossing local, temporal and cultural spins three times.
