Long-distance hiking trails through Tuxertal

The Alps are THE region for long-distance hiking trails. There are many highly different paths leading across Austria or from Italy to Germany. Luckily, Tuxertal is located in the heart of the Tyrolean mountains and is therefore as a stopover point of many hiking trails. Take a break in Tux-Finkenberg, enjoy Tyrolean delicacies and enjoy a panoramic view of Hintertux Glacier before you continue hiking to the south, north, east or west.

Two-day tours around Tux-Finkenberg

Starting in the beautiful Tyrolean municipalities Tux and Finkenberg, it is possible to hike on different multi-day routes. These routes impress hikers with the finest mountain air, great panoramas and almost unspoilt alpine scenery..

  • Climb two summits on the main ridges of Tux from Finkenberg in just two days. The best time for this is between early June and late September. Spend the night at the accommodations in Finkenberg or on Gamshütte. Day 1 features 8.5 hours and more than 2,000 altitude metres with many great vantage points. After spending the night at the Gamshütte, the second day and summit, the Tettensjoch, is waiting for hikers with enough stamina; the area is rather quiet and lonely. The day’s stage ends in Tux’s district of Madseit.
  • The tour from Tux’s mill to Tux-Lanersbach across Geier summit and Torsee lake offers mountain lakes and a first-class panoramic summit. On the whole, the two-day tour is not too difficult running through a scenically amazing part of the Tux Alps. Several steep passages and steel cable strandings have to be covered.
Best time: mid-June to early October
    Day 1: 7 h, 13.2 km, 2,250 altitude metres
    Day 2: 5 h, 8.3 km, 1,500 altitude metres
Overnight: Lizumer Hütte and accommodations in Tux
