Experience history up close on this guided hike in the Zillertal Alps Nature Park. In the course of a spectacular hike to the Pfitscherjoch, explore old camps, "workshops" and paths from the Stone Age.
Exciting journey into the history of the Pfitscher Joch - guided tour with the Zillertal alps nature park
We will walk to Pfitscher Joch, a striking alpine crossing from South Tyrol to the Zillertal Valley and the site of some recent sensational Stone Age finds! Now we know that the Pfitscher Joch has been crossed already 10,000 years ago to find and trade with rock crystals. During our journey back in time we will walk along the same paths used by Stone Age hunters. Back then, where animals where found, you would find people too. They followed the animals, to ensuring their own survival posibilities. Elevated lookout points, a Stone Age camp and former “workshops” can often be seen right next to the trail – we gain an intense insight into the lives of the mountain folk. The exciting „Boundless Pfitscher Joch “exhibition at the Lavitzalm -which we will visit - is dedicated to this theme. We can also learn interesting facts on the “eternal ice” and how glaciers have shaped the landscape.
